Ceremonies

The Dames of the Royal Order of Santa Isabel meet annually between February and April to approve the accounts of the previous year, to present suggestions for institutions and initiatives to support, to plan and organize the annual ceremonies of the day of Queen Santa Isabel on July 4th and to discuss other matters that the Grand Master and the Council may deem relevant.

The Magna Reunion may include a lecture on a religious, social or historical theme, given by the Order’s spiritual director or another personality that the Grand Master wishes to invite.

The day of Santa Isabel is celebrated on the 4th of July, and is commemorated with the gathering of all the Dames in Coimbra, where they participate in the Mass in Honour of the Holy Queen, celebrated in the Convent of Santa Clara a Nova.

The solemnity consists of the reading of the nominations, the giving of the Pledge of Honor by the recipient, the Imposing the Insignias and the giving of the Letter of Grant by H.R.H., the Duchess of Bragança.
