On the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the canonization of Queen Saint Isabel of Portugal, the Royal Order of Saint Isabel was present, at the invitation of Reverend Father José Manuel Pereira de Almeida, Parish Priest of the Church of Saint Isabel, in Lisbon, at the commemorative Mass presided over by His Excellency Most Reverend D. Alexandre Palma, Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon, which took place on Sunday, May 25th, at 7:30 PM.
At this solemn celebration attended Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Bragança and 19 Dames of the Real Ordem de Santa Isabel, in a Mass filled with the people and accompanied by the Church choir. During the ceremony, a musical adaptation by Maestro Diogo Gonçalves was performed, based on verses dedicated to Queen Saint Isabel by His Holiness Pope Urban VIII, author of the decree of her canonization in 1625.
Four centuries later, Real Ordem de Santa Isabel gathered again in community in a profoundly symbolic moment. At the end of the Mass, all those present were blessed with the relic of the Rainha Santa, which is in the possession of this Church.
